“The Amazing Race: Cubs around the World”
June 8th - 10th, 2012
It’s Cuboree time again and all Mississauga Cub Packs are invited to Cuboree 2012 – The Amazing Race: Cubs around the World. Cuboree is an exciting, fun-filled weekend of camping and activities. Last year, hundreds of youth and adults attended. Camp is being held again at Goodyear Memorial Scout Camp near Orangeville from Friday, June 8th through to Sunday June 10th, 2012.
THEME & ACTIVITIES
There will be 10 events supporting our theme “The Amazing Race – Cubs around the world. Events will take place in 2 separate areas. Morning rotations will take place in one area; afternoon rotations will take place in the 2nd area. Each event will last about 30 minutes including time to get to the next event in the same area. There will be a 10-minute snack period in both the morning and afternoon rotations during which youth may consume snacks that they have packed along. Water will be available at each station. All participants are encouraged to ‘lug a mug’ and/or to have a refillable water bottle.
While enjoying the activities throughout the weekend, all cubs attending will have the opportunity to earn the World Cubbing Badge.

Blast Into SummmerMississauga Area is pleased to present:BLAST INTO SUMMER 2012Cub, Scout, Venturer, Rover and Adult members with the opportunity to get into the exciting field of rocketry. Rocket construction and launch is not only a fun but also a very educational experience for your youth! Much information is available on web sites. The rockets can be reused provided they are retrieved, and are undamaged. The motor is the only one-use component and can be easily replaced. EVENT DATE: SATURDAY, JUNE 23, 2012 @ ERINDALE PARKORDERS DUE: FRIDAY, MAY, 11, 2012Please consider adding this event to your Pack or Troop programs. As an organization we want to be providing unique, quality, hands-on programs for youth and we want youth activities in the outdoors - all of these attributes are met in our “Blast off into Summer Rocketry Event. It also has the effect of attracting youth and leaders to extend their Scouting year for one more activity before the summer months. Rocket building can occupy a full meeting or a part of one (The Star Hawk rocket can be built in 30 minutes if you march the youth through it step by step – longer if you wish and certainly the decorating can take whatever time you wish from nothing to ”the sky’s the limit”.) For Troops you can add information and make changes to design that effect trajectories and altitudes and can enhance the experience with interesting side bars on development of the science of rocketry over time. Attention: All Mississauga ScoutsThe annual Bread and Honey Festival Parade is upon us again. Every year our Scout Groups involvement and representation in this parade has grown. Let’s make this the best year yet!
This year the Parade is on June 2, 2012, Saturday 10am – 12pm. The Streetsville GO Station parking lot will be our meeting point for transfer to the parade line up. Colonies, Packs and Troops should arrive at the GO Station parking lot between 8:30am – 9:15am.
Every one should make sure to inform the parents in their groups that all participants have a good breakfast that day. Water bottles and sunscreen should also be considered.
Further details will follow shortly. Let’s get the message out about how great Scouting is by having the best turnout ever.

The Mississauga Areas Composite Camp at the Haliburton Scout Reserve is well into the planning stages and we would like to invite you to partake in this life long memory making experience. You may ask yourself why you should attend the camp. Well here are some of the reasons: The Haliburton Scout ReserveA Paradise for Scouts of all ages located 250 km (150 miles) north of Toronto, this 5000 acre reserve is richly forested and has 10 sparkling lakes providing wilderness homes for many animals, birds and fish. The Reserve is the largest Scout Camp in Canada and the summer home to countless thousands of Scouts, Venturer Scouts, and Scouters from all over Canada, the United States, Britain and many other countries. The ActivitiesWeather permitting, the camp activities include: Archery Riflery Rappelling Sailing Survival Island Kayaking Snorkeling Climbing Wall Friendship and FunMake plans to attend with your Scouting friends and meet and become friends with other Scouts, Venturer Scouts, and Scouters. Improve your camping skills, learn to work with others, and have lots of fun with free time activities like swimming, hiking, and canoeing. There will be a mandatory Pre-Camp meeting held in Mississauga in June. Space is limited and registration is held on a first-come-first-served basis.
